This heist is the ultimate brains versus brawn. If they attempt to take out all of the guards, they’ll be massively outnumbered, and won’t be able to clear them out before the caravan escapes with at least half of their riches. They’ll need to use their wit and nimbleness to out maneuver their adversaries. From the beginning of their raid, they will have 3 minutes (18 rounds) before reinforcements will return and they’ll be massively overwhelmed. The players will also have a maximum of two days worth of preplanning time they’re able to spend to tip the odds in their favor. Each action not only costs them time, but may involve parting with some of their beloved gold.
To whom it may concern,
Well done on your first assignment. I must admit the elders had their fears that you weren’t well suited for the job. With how smoothly things went, I believe the fire these fears hold have been diminished greatly, and should stay quelled for quite some time. We would like to extend to you a second job, per chance if you have the stomach for it.
Each week, the Southern Shores Merchant Fleet has their ships roll in to the port of Ephanrian. Among their ships they carry fine spices, gems, linens, ivory, and all kinds of trinkets and wine that you could imagine. Lately, they’ve begun to scoff at the need for paying their protection guarantees. It’s up to you to remind them of why they work with us, and not against us. Your goal is to take at least a quarter of what the caravan is carrying. While more is always appreciated, at least a quarter missing should send a strong enough message not to cross us. With this letter, you’ve been provided with a map of their travels to the west, along with contacts for their hired security and where their caravans are stashed between trips. The next caravan leaves in two days, and time is of the essence. Plan out the job, execute it, and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.
All the best,
Your shadow-clad confidant
