Well, that’s about it! I’ve completed the game jam for myself within the allotted time. All in, I’m pretty proud of what I was able to accomplish. I’ve created a game where you can create characters, fill out their gear, run combat, AND play as a hacker, all with it’s own minigame. I’d say that was a pretty accomplished two months for myself.

Next Steps

Now that I’ve got everything put together, the real fun begins. I view this as almost halfway to version 0. The game can be played and the initial structure has been roughed out, but now the hard part of completing the details and refining the mechanics that have been made begins. It’s really only seen table play from myself playtesting, and I’m getting ready to start seeing how other people can use the system by running sessions with others.

Takeaway

The biggest takeaway that I have from all of this is that game design can be really fun if you’re building something unique that you’re actually interested in creating. I stepped away form the normal genre of game I play (fantasy) and have built something that is more futuristic/sci-fi in nature. I think it was very fun to create, and I’m excited to see what can come of it as I begin to refine it.
